A Badaga village in the Nilgiris hills

Our story

Nanga Kathai means "our story"

For generations the Badagas of the Nilgiris have sung their stories: at weddings and naming days, at the Hethai Habba, in the tea fields, and in remembrance. Many of those songs survive only on old cassettes in family homes.

Nanga Kathai gathers them in one place, so Badaga families in the hattis, in Coimbatore and Bengaluru, and across the Gulf, Canada and the US can hear them any time and pass them on to their children.

It is built by Metatroncube Software Solutions, founded by a Badaga, as a way of giving back to the community.
